Home Improvements

Last summer we were faced with having to repair the siding on the front of the house because woodpeckers had made holes in the wood siding above two of our front windows. Plus, the beams that cross the front entryway were fairly rotten.

The insurance company waited until 30 days before the renewal of our policy to advise us that if we didn't get it repaired, they wouldn't renew our policy. We discovered they'd actually had photos of our house for about six months prior to this and could have notified us sooner. In any case, we did get the work done.

We had the front siding replaced and the wooden beams removed. The front siding was replaced with hardiplank, a cement-coated siding that will probably last much longer than we will and the woodpeckers will NOT be able to penetrate that! :-)

We weren't able to get the house painted until earlier this month. Now we have new siding and trim on all of our front windows, and we have a nice new paint job on the house too! Much better, don't you think?
