A Zachary Update

Zachary now has braces on both the upper teeth AND the lower teeth. But the lower teeth are the only ones that have tension and are being moved. The upper ones have the braces, but not the tension wires yet. And he still has the expander in place.

This afternoon we go to the orthodontist and he'll most likely tell us what he and the oral surgeon have decided is the next move. When last we visited the oral surgeon, he said he'd wait to do the palate bone graft until after the orthodontist had moved a few teeth around on the top; but it had been my understanding from the orthodontist that he would be moving any upper teeth until the bone graft had been done. So . . . they needed to pow-wow to determine whose move it is. :-) But I trust them. They do a lot of these cases and they do them successfully.

I also found out from the oral surgeon that they will NOT have to take the bone from Zachary's hip to place in the palate, but will rather take it from where his wisdom teeth will have been after they remove the wisdom teeth; which explains why they didn't remove the wisdom teeth when they removed the three teeth in the front a couple of months ago.

I'll probably post another update after we meet with the orthodontist this afternoon. So stay tuned! :-)
